Located on a remarkable fifty acre scenic property nestled in the heart of Martha’s Vineyard, MA, this project features a traditional conservatory addition to a 1700's estate renovation. A custom glass roof system was designed to fit the concept from the architect and the vision of the homeowner. The conservatory roof system boasts an intricate design reflecting the simple but elegant architecture of this traditional Vineyard home and the exterior copper caps and flashings are consistent with the roof valleys and drip flashings on the main house. Glass properties possessing superb solar control and insulating values allow SUNSPACE DESIGN, INC to offer glass roof systems in our sunrooms, conservatories, orangeries and greenhouses that mitigate heat gain prevent heat loss while maintaining a 70% visible light transmittance. In this dining room used to entertain house guests, natural light is as important as the menu! Four motorized operable ridge-vents have been added for those “dog-days” of a New England summer to help that coastal breeze circulate throughout the conservatory space.

The use of conventional wall framing and the architect's choice of custom Marvin French Doors allowed us to create a seamless flow from the architecture of the main house to the traditional conservatory. The interior of this room is magnificent with its brick walls and country home finishes. All trim details are site built allowing for unlimited creative design on this and all of our projects.
