A Custom Skylight in Hingham, MA

by | Sep 26, 2023 | Construction

Welcome to Sunspace Design’s latest build journal — a photo journey series where we illuminate the path to architectural excellence by showing you the nuts and bolts of custom glass craftsmanship. Today’s journal takes us to Hingham, Massachusetts, where a new home under construction is receiving a custom skylight to create a captivating sitting room enhanced by the beauty of natural sunlight.

At the heart of our involvement in the project is the skylight itself: a 12′ x 5′ custom mahogany framed double hip unit that was primed in our shop and transported to the job site to minimize build times. Collaborating seamlessly with Anderson Structural Engineering from Marshfield, Massachusetts, and working hand in hand with the experienced team at Pinsonneault Builders from Falmouth, Massachusetts, Sunspace Design brought our glass design expertise to the fore.

The skylight serves as the crown jewel of the sitting room and is located centrally on the ceiling. The choice of PPG SolarBan 70 insulated glass and a copper-clad glazing system epitomizes the blending of aesthetics with performance. Join us to take a look at how it all came together.
