A Hip Style Glass Roof System in Avon, CT

by | Nov 24, 2023 | Construction

Skylights and glass roof systems are inherently versatile glass construction options because they can be added to existing spaces in a wide variety of styles and configurations. Today we’re exploring the addition of a custom hip style glass roof system to a client’s home in Avon, Connecticut. To complete this project, Sunspace Design teamed up with DiGiorgi Roofing & Siding out of Beacon Falls, Connecticut, who served as general contractor. We designed and manufactured the glass roof system in our shop and then transported it to the job site for crane-powered field installation. Let’s take a look at the process and the result.

The extra large 14’ x 20’ frame is assembled outside the shop due to its size.

The frame is assembled and tested before being disassembled for shipment to the project site.

The general contractor has readied the wood frame walls and structural components ahead of the skylight installation.

The fully assembled unit is lifted into place.

The roof system is set upon the structural walls provided by the general contractor.

High performance PPG SolarBan 70 insulated glass is set into the mahogany frame.

The glass is set and is ready to receive final glazing system components.
