Our process is simple and involves close collaboration with the homeowners and professionals we partner with. The goal is to always give you exactly what’s necessary to get the job done. We can be as involved as you need, with options ranging from full general contracting to the specific engineering and installation of specialty glass components.

Over 40 Years of Bringing Sunlight to Maine Homes

We’ve been at this since 1981. In that time, we’ve completed hundreds of projects along the seacoast corridor connecting Maine to Massachusetts. We’ve recently begun taking on additional clients near our headquarters in Maine and are pleased to invite you to join the Sunspace Design family.

With over 40 years of experience, we’ve grown from a small construction outfit into a fully featured firm regarded as regional leaders in the glass structure industry. Each product we build is available in a wide variety of sizes and configurations, and each is capable of withstanding the full force of a New England winter. With Sunspace Design you’ll receive both beauty and performance.

Are you a Maine homeowner, business owner, or industry professional interested in the services we offer? Contact us. We look forward to helping you achieve your goals. Whether you’re on the coast, in the Portland metropolitan area, or further inland, our expert team can bring you stunning, custom construction that will enhance your property in more ways than you can imagine.

Sunspace Design Brings Mainers True Value

Your Goals Are Our Goals

Our projects stick to a time-tested planning process that ensures that our clients have their voices heard. We’ll be in touch with you at each step of the way until you’re left with a beautiful installation to be proud of.

Bringing Total Flexibility

Our involvement is flexible. We usually serve as general contractor, but if you already have one, we can provide CAD drawings or custom glass components as needed. The goal is a headache-free experience.

Paperwork? No Problem.

Leave the clerical roadblocks like building permits, zoning requirements, and other legal requirements to us. We have expert knowledge of Maine’s building regulations, and we bring our clients that value.

100% Unique Projects

Our units are not templated or prefabricated, and our custom designs can achieve any idea under the sun. Our sole purpose is to achieve your vision in a way that pairs beautifully with your existing architecture.

Featured Maine Construction Projects

Featured Project #1:
Riverside Conservatory with Stunning Views in York, ME

The look, feel, and function of each project we complete is dictated by your goals, your personal sense of style, and the existing appearance of your home. This project was completed on the shoreline of the Cape Neddick River in York, ME with the goal of offering the client and his family stunning year-round views of the water. To ensure ease of access, the conservatory can be entered via doors leading to the residence’s rear yard as well as via an annexed connection leading to the kitchen. We couldn’t be prouder of the beautiful results!

Client Testimonial: Martin

“This firm is amazing, combining cutting edge technology with old world craftsmanship and skill. They recently completed a year-round conservatory facing the water in Maine (which I have told them they should submit to Architectural Digest). In addition they have done a great deal of remodeling work in the house itself which involved a highly complicated matching of timbers and panels which they did brilliantly. And unlike certain other firms, if they say a project will be finished on a certain date you can be sure it will be, even if they have to work weekends to make up for the latest Nor’easter. As Tom says ‘our goal when we finish is to make it appear as if we’ve never been there.’ I can not recommend them more highly.”

Featured Project #2:
Victorian Conservatory with Octagonal Glass Roof in Kittery Point, Maine

Completed in Kittery Point, Maine, the featured residence represents one of the more unique properties we’ve worked on. Originally built as a passenger and freight train station connecting Portsmouth, New Hampshire and York Beach, Maine, Kittery Junction has been around since 1886. Now privately owned, the building received a gorgeous upgrade thanks to the Sunspace Design team.

The current owner approached us with a clear goal: to build a Victorian conservatory adjoining a master bedroom that would provide tremendous views of a nearby pond. We worked diligently to bring this vision to life while remaining respectful of the building’s existing architectural flourishes, achieving the goal through a combination of solid conventional walls, specialty Marvin windows, and a unique octagonal conservatory glass room system that we built in the shop and transported to the site (saving our client many days of construction time).

Featured Project #3:
Seaside Porch Enclosure in Cape Neddick, Maine

Constructed near our main office in York, ME, this porch enclosure represents a modest and attractive addition to the client’s coastal property. Providing shelter from the elements and an amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean, the resulting enclosure is a great example of how simple architectural changes and glass additions can revolutionize an existing space. The process involved the removal of decking, the introduction of a new carrying beam, wall and roof framing, and weather protection.

Client Testimonial: Therese

“Sunspace Design recently completed a sunroom for our home. We are completely satisfied with their work. They were never distracted when working; the team worked continuously from arrival to departure. Their concentration and attention to detail was commendable. They also kept us constantly informed on what they were doing, were always courteous, and were always willing to answer all of our questions!”
