A Wraparound Hip-Style Skylight in New Salem, MA
Skylights and glass roof systems constitute our most versatile product category. Capable of being developed in any style, size, or configuration, a Sunspace Design custom glass skylight can transform an existing room with natural sunlight, or serve as the focal point in new construction. Today’s build journal explores the development of a unique wraparound hip-style skylight we designed, manufactured, and installed for clients in New Salem, Massachusetts. We provided our glass construction services to assist the project’s general contractor: Lineal Inc. Architects and Builders out of Duxbury. The finished skylight features gorgeous mahogany framing, high-performance insulated glass, and both copper flashing and caps. Let’s explore the construction process below.
The conventional hip roof frame with a structural LVL hip rafter establishes the skylight opening.
Mahogany rafters and ledger trims are in place.
