A Ridge Saddle Skylight in Lexington, MA

by | Mar 3, 2022 | Construction

We’re a design-build firm with a specialized focus. Professional collaboration is incredibly important to us for that reason. Our company is able to leverage our specialty design and engineering expertise for any project that calls for glass construction.

Today we’re looking at our contribution of a custom designed ridge saddle skylight to a brand new home in Lexington, MA. Colin Smith Architecture (also out of Lexington) helmed the project and Built-Well Construction of Belmont, MA served as general contractor.

The architects approached Sunspace with the ridge skylight design and invited us to provide engineering and installation. We’ve worked with Colin Smith Architecture in the past and were eager to join up! The skylight is to be detailed in mahogany and outfitted with high-performance insulated glass for top thermal and solar performance. Aluminum flashing in a custom color will be provided to match the exterior of the new home’s windows.

It is now ready for delivery to the project site!

One side of the custom mahogany saddle skylight frame has been installed in the roof opening.

Both sides of the skylight frame are now installed on the sides of the structure ridge.
The next step: installing Solarban insulated glass units.
