An Oceanside Solarium and Spa in York, ME

by | Sep 4, 2024 | Construction

Imagine a private home sanctuary where sunlight warms your skin even as the ocean breeze whispers nearby. When homeowners in York, Maine envisioned such a retreat, they turned to Sunspace Design to make it a reality. The solarium we provided is a haven for rest and relaxation, furnishing beautiful views of the Atlantic’s majestic waters and easy access to an adjoining spa. Comfort meets the raw beauty of the Maine coast.

The 9′ x 20′ solarium opens onto a 5′ x 20′ composite deck where a 6′ x 6′ acrylic spa remains ever-ready for use. The solarium’s front wall features two 5′ sliding doors flanking an 8′ custom folding glass wall. This innovative system allows the entire front of the solarium to open, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Cardinal low-E 272 argon gas-filled insulated/tempered safety panes ensure year-round performance. A split system unit provides heating and air conditioning. The interior boasts a vertical grain Douglas fir floor, adding warmth and elegance. The exterior, constructed of aluminum and composite, requires little to no maintenance, leaving the homeowners plenty of time to focus on enjoying their coastal paradise.

Every detail—from the Solar Innovations-provided roof and door system to the seamless integration of the spa—was carefully planned in collaboration with the homeowners. Sunspace Design, serving as both designer and general contractor, coordinated every element of this project. The clients couldn’t be happier. Let’s walk through the process.
