A Rooftop Accessway in Boston, MA
Our company’s roots are in Massachusetts, so it’s always a pleasure when we’re able to return to our original proving grounds to do some good work! Today’s build journal offers a glance at one of our recent metropolitan area projects: a rooftop accessway we completed for clients in Boston. We were tasked with converting an older, pre-existing steel skylight with new insulated glass, copper cladding, and mahogany components. Sunspace Design completed the skylight design, shop-fabricated all of the mahogany elements, and performed the skylight installation on site while F.H. Perry Builder out of Hopkinton, Massachusetts served as the general contractor. See the photos below to explore some of this gorgeous project’s glass roof construction process.

This is going to be a dramatic, beautiful way to cover the rooftop deck stairway.

Sunspace Design installers prepare the custom copper for the double hip skylight design.

Copper flashing and caps are completed for the city skylight.

The completed accessway glass roof will introduce light to the stairwell space below.

The completed Sunspace Design skylight sits atop custom walls provided by the general contractor.
