A Pool House Enclosure in Kennebunkport, ME
As is the case with so much of our work, today’s build journal showcases the power of teamwork in high-end construction. We worked alongside the visionary team at TMS Architects / Interiors based in Portsmouth, NH, who provided the architectural concept, and the skilled team at Malmquist Builders of Eliot, ME, who served as the general contractor. Sunspace brought our specialized expertise in custom glass structures to the forefront by providing and installing sophisticated, thermally-efficient aluminum framed outswing French doors and custom sidelights.
The enclosure design prioritized aesthetics and performance. Crisp, white powder-coated aluminum frames offer the client exceptional durability and low maintenance. This is essential for the coastal Maine environment. The doors feature a clever grid design: Simulated Divided Lite (SDL) grids sealed between the inner glass panes (surfaces 2 and 3) maintain thermal efficiency. These doors, designed with narrow rails, offer expansive views and a clean, modern look. Let’s follow the transformation:

Conceptual drawings from TMS Architects / Interiors illustrate the vision for the transformed pool house enclosure.

Here’s the original pool house structure before we began the enclosure process.

The durable, powder-coated white aluminum French door frames are carefully assembled before installation begins.

The first set of elegant outswing French doors finds its place, accompanied by a perfectly sized custom sidelight.

On the end wall, the second set of outswing French doors is expertly installed, seamlessly integrating with the pool house structure.

Precision counts!
Doors and sidelights are now fitted into all three openings along the pool house’s long front wall, custom-made for the existing spaces.

All the custom outswing French doors are now in place, marking a major milestone in the transformation.

These highly insulated, thermally-efficient doors are built to handle a Maine winter with ease.

The new doors flood the interior with natural light, creating a bright, airy, and inviting atmosphere inside the pool house.

Designed for comfort and versatility, these doors maintain thermal integrity during cold months while providing refreshing airflow in warmer weather.
