An Aluminum-Framed Rooftop Skylight in Boston, MA
The Sunspace Design team is comfortable working in virtually any environment when completing glass structure projects. We’ve built massive glass roof installations, specialized automated greenhouses, elegant Victorian conservatories, and other custom projects in environments ranging from urban centers to rural farmland. But we’re always excited when our work takes us to spaces that are especially beautiful. This build journal explores one such project: the completion of a custom triangular skylight and glass folding wall system for a new lakeside addition at Spofford Lake in Chesterfield, New Hampshire.
The clients wanted an addition to their lake residence which would feature a dramatic skylight system and collapsible window walls. Imagine sunshine entering from a skylight above and a fresh lake breeze arriving through opened window walls and you’ll have a good idea of the project’s goal! Here’s a step-by-step walkthrough of the progress to date:
The general contractor has provided solid end walls and a structural ridge beam.
The team applies sill flashing to the curb at the base of the skylight.
The rafters have been installed.
Insulated, high-performance glass is installed on the frame.
A view of the copper eave flashing.
Both end walls are now fully clad in copper.
A perspective of the completed skylight exterior.
